At Applied Broadband, we create powerful software for broadband networks to advance the connected experience.

Our engineers thrive in today’s changing broadband networking environment: one that amplifies the scale and complexity of software design and development by several orders of magnitude.

We combine contemporary open network platforms and software development methodologies in unprecedented ways to address demands specific to massive scale broadband network infrastructures. What results is a line of software technologies, which transform ossified broadband networks into programmable platforms that will fuel the next broadband revolution.

Applied Broadband’s unique approach to the development and licensing of our software and technologies enables our customers to engage with the broadband eco-system with unprecedented flexibility and agility.

Many of the world’s largest broadband networks have deployed Applied Broadband software and our code currently manages millions of subscriber connections globally.

Here are a few of our leading software projects.

JetPacket

Transforming broadband into a programmable platform.

JetPacket is a collection of tools, libraries, and applications created to accelerate the transformation of the broadband network into a programmable network platform. JetPacket offers Broadband service providers multiple tools for the development and optimization of large-scale SDN deployments in their networks today.

Networks augmented by JetPacket benefit from a software-based control plane that supports new service offerings and use cases for broadband infrastructures that were unavailable to providers before. When applied to broadband networks, JetPacket works in concert with open network platforms (OpenDayLight, CableLabs PMA).

JetPacket has traction in field trials enabling two new use cases: 1) the physical layer optimization of DOCSIS 3.1 networks, and 2) programmable service flow control for bandwidth conservation and service optimization.

Assembler

Assuring the connected home experience.

The connected home is an essential element of the service delivery network, yet remains ‘invisible’ to both service providers and subscribers - and you can’t manage what you can’t see. Furthermore, despite significant progress in the growth and stability of broadband networks, service providers and consumers continue to struggle with home network reliability and performance.

Assembler is a collection of tools, libraries, and applications, designed to assure and enhance the broadband experience by providing visibility into, and control of, the underpinning connected home network.

In 2017, Applied Broadband released Assembler as an open source contribution to the CableLabs Common Code Community (C3). The technology developed in Assembler is now integrated into the WiFi Proactive Network Maintenance (PNM) program as a key component of the Common Collection Framework (CCF). The Wifi PNM advanced home network analysis software tools are now available to over 60 broadband service providers worldwide.

Pipeline

Privacy-preserving Bandwidth management.

Pipeline is the world’s fastest IPDR mediation platform, enabling massive scale collection, metering and correlation of subscriber usage data in real time.  Pipeline solves the problem of subscriber consumption data management while preserving the privacy of broadband consumers.

Pipeline’s patented software is currently used by seven of the Top 10 North American MSOs (representing over 40 million broadband subscribers). Guavus, a leader in big data analytics products for service providers, acquired the Pipeline technology in 2014.
