Jason K. Schnitzer, Founder and Principal

Jason leads Engineering Services and Technical Development for Applied Broadband.

Prior to founding Applied Broadband, Jason was co-founder and CTO of Stargus, Inc. Stargus, one of the world’s first developers of network management and optimization software for broadband networks, was formed in 2000 and acquired by C-COR (CCBL – NASDAQ) in 2004.

Jason began his career in networking as an engineer with Shaw Communications (SJR – NYSE), contributing to the design of one of Canada’s largest residential High Speed Data networks. With Shaw Communications, Jason spent 1997-1999 at CableLabs™ as a visiting engineer, working as a contributor to, and editor of, the DOCSIS 1.0 OSS specification.

Jason is a frequent speaker on broadband technology and has authored numerous articles for technical and trade publications. A recognized innovator in the area of broadband systems, Jason has filed several patents related to network management and broadband technology.

Jason has served as a chair of the SCTE High-Speed-Data OSS working group, as technical advisor to the CableLabs™ Certification board, and has worked within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to develop IP-based network management technologies for emerging broadband network technologies and services.

Jason holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, Canada, and a M.Eng. from the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Jeff Pedigo, Director of Software Development

Jeff leads Software Development for Applied Broadband.

Prior to joining Applied Broadband, Jeff worked at SandCherry, Inc. where he led the team of engineers responsible for the creation of an Integrated Development environment (IDE) for Voice-base applications. This IDE enabled Voice application developers to develop, test and debug applications developed in Voice XML (VXML) on the SandCherry Voice Platform.

During the last 10 years Jeff has been a partner in software consulting companies Walnut Software, LLC. and Engram Technologies, Inc. There Jeff worked extensively in large-scale high-availability database systems and distributed data communication environments spanning diverse industries such as Media management and production, Business Intelligence, Petroleum exploration, and Financial Services.

Jeff began his career in 1980 developing real-time data acquisition and telecommunication applications for NASA Shuttle launch support, Plus Systems ATM Transaction Switching systems, NOAA Meteorological data acquisition and management.

Jeff holds a BA degree from the University of Alabama.

Ellen Terwilliger, Director, Program Management

Ellen leads Program Management for Applied Broadband.

Prior to Applied Broadband, Ellen was the Senior Program Manager for broadband products at WildBlue Communications, a provider of high speed networking services over satellite.  At WildBlue, she was responsible for managing the development of satellite modems and the satellite modem termination system (SMTS) manufactured by an external vendor.

Ellen has been in program management since 1998 for such established companies as Cable Television Laboratories (CableLabs) managing the DOCSIS modem certification and CMTS qualification program; AT&T Broadband managing the Broadband Choice program; and Pacific Broadband/Juniper Networks managing the development and qualification of the first DOCSIS Qualified 4x16 CMTS utilizing an internally developed ASIC.

Ellen holds an A.Sc. in Business Management from Albertus Magnus College in New Haven, CT.

Andrew W. Sundelin, Principal Consultant

Andrew is a Lead Consultant and Developer for Applied Broadband.

Prior to Applied Broadband, Andrew was an early employee and Principal Architect at WildBlue Communications, a provider of high speed networking services over satellite. At WildBlue, he worked on adapting the DOCSIS MAC layer for satellite use and protocol optimization (e.g. HTTP and TCP) in a high delay environment.

As an industry expert Andrew has worked extensively in network policy design, Quality of Service (QoS) implementation, capacity management, service quality assurance, and abuse mitigation systems and technologies. Andrew was a contributing author to the PacketCable™ Multimedia specification.

Prior to these roles, Andrew was a system architect at CableLabs from 1996-1999. At CableLabs, Andrew lead the specification team that wrote DOCSIS 1.1 as well as leading both the DOCSIS 1.0 MAC and the PacketCable™ QoS groups.

Andrew has served on the SCTE High-Speed-Data MAC working group, as technical advisor for the CableLabs DOCSIS Certification Board, and has worked within both the IETF and IEEE on topics related to both wired and wireless DOCSIS.

Andrew holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Russian Studies from Brown University and has completed all the course work for an MS in Telecommunications at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

Sonia Schnitzer, Director of Marketing & Administration

Sonia manages Applied Broadband's organizational operations and marketing activities.

Prior to joining Applied Broadband, Sonia was the Director of Environmental Market Development for the Colorado Environmental Business Alliance (CEBA).  She worked with CEBA to build markets for Colorado environmental businesses and promote the Colorado environmental industry both domestically and internationally.  Sonia was responsible for creating CEBA collateral material, establishing partnerships with businesses and other non-profits, organizing presentations and lectures, coordinating with the media, and organizing incoming and outgoing trade missions, including to and from Mexico, China, Russia and Vietnam.

Sonia has a background in international marketing communications, public relations, and finance.  Prior to joining CEBA, she worked as an Associate Investment Broker in Canada.  She holds a MA in Global Marketing Communications and Advertising from Emerson College, Boston, a BA in Sociology from University of Calgary, Canada, and a Canadian Securities License.
