Jason Schnitzer
Founder and Principal

Jason leads business development and technical services at Applied Broadband.

Prior to starting Applied Broadband, Jason was co-founder and CTO of Stargus, Inc., which pioneered network management and optimization software for broadband networks. Formed in 2000, Stargus was acquired by C-COR (CCBL - NASDAQ) in 2004.

Jason's career in networking began at the age of 14, when he started a modem business — manufacturing 1200 bps dial-up modems in his bedroom and selling them through the local newspaper and to fledgling computer stores.

After obtaining degrees in electrical and computer engineering, Jason was hired as an engineer with Shaw Communications (SJR - NYSE), where he helped design one of Canada's largest residential high speed data networks and spent several years as a visiting engineer at CableLabs™, serving as contributor and editor of the DOCSIS 1.0 OSS specification.

A recognized innovator in broadband technology, Jason has written numerous articles for technical and trade publications and has filed multiple patents related to network management and broadband technology.

In addition, Jason has served as a chair of the SCTE High Speed Data OSS working group, as technical advisor to the CableLabs™ certification board, and has worked within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to develop IP-based network management technologies for emerging broadband network technologies and services.

Jason holds a master's degree in engineering from the University of Colorado and a bachelor's degree from the University of Calgary.

 

Jeff Pedigo
Director of Software Development

Jeff leads software development for Applied Broadband.

Jeff previously worked at SandCherry, Inc., where he supervised the creation of an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for voice-base applications, enabling engineers to refine applications developed in Voice XML (VXML) on the SandCherry Voice Platform.

More recently, Jeff has been a partner in software consulting companies Walnut Software, LLC. and Engram Technologies, Inc., where he worked with large-scale, high-availability database systems and distributed data communication environments.

Jeff's career kicked off in 1980, developing real-time data acquisition and telecommunication applications for NASA shuttle launch support, Plus Systems ATM Transaction Switching systems, and NOAA meteorological data acquisition and management.

Jeff holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama.

 

Andrew Sundelin
Director of Architecture

Andrew leads development of architecture for Applied Broadband.

Before joining Applied Broadband, Andrew was a principal architect at WildBlue Communications, a provider of high-speed networking services over satellite. At WildBlue, he helped adapt the DOCSIS MAC layer for satellite use and protocol optimization (e.g., HTTP and TCP) in a high delay environment.

A contributing author to the PacketCable™ multimedia specification, Andrew has worked extensively in network policy design, Quality of Service (QoS) implementation, capacity management, service quality assurance, and abuse mitigation systems and technologies.

Andrew was a system architect at CableLabs from 1996 to 1999, where he led the specification team that wrote DOCSIS 1.1 as well as the DOCSIS 1.0 MAC and the PacketCable™ QoS groups.

Andrew has served on the SCTE High Speed Data MAC working group, as technical advisor for the CableLabs DOCSIS certification board, and has worked within both the IETF and IEEE on topics related to both wired and wireless DOCSIS.

Andrew has completed the course work for a telecommunications master's degree from the University of Colorado and holds a bachelor's degree from Brown University.

 

John Thompson
Senior Engineer – Quality Assurance and Customer Support

John leads software quality assurance and customer support for Applied Broadband.

John's software-industry experience spans over three decades including positions as Developer, Architect, and Quality Assurance Engineer for Cable-Industry companies including CableLabs, ARRIS, Digeo, ADB, and Vidiom Systems.

Prior to joining Applied Broadband, as Principal CATV Test Engineer, John led the design and implementation of the control logic and database in Vidiom Systems' vCert – an automated OCAP certification product.

While at CableLabs, John created a demonstration implementation of the "Advertising and Interactive Services Media Event Data Model" pipeline, as well as designing and validating numerous OCAP certification test suite assets.

John's technical papers on graphics and data visualization have been published and presented internationally.

John holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado.

 

Peg Fowler
Director of Operations

Peg leads operations for Applied Broadband.

Peg joined Applied Broadband's management team in a business advisory services capacity in 2006, and was instrumental in helping to launch the company's successful broadband software and services business model including the Pipeline™ Broadband Intelligence Product-Suite.

Peg's operations experience in the software industry spans over three decades, and includes work in broadband, telecommunications, financial services, transportation, and healthcare industry verticals. In her capacity as Director of Operations, Peg has been responsible for driving strategic and operational planning, corporate finance, marketing, facilities management, and corporate development.

Peg also serves as Applied Broadband's Senior Project Manager on all client engagements, and is responsible for ensuring that customers receive the highest level of service and delivery from the company's engineering team, from project conception to completion.

Peg holds a bachelor's degree Northwestern University, and a master's degree from the University of Michigan.

 

Sonia Schnitzer
Director of Marketing and Administration

Sonia is the director of marketing and administration for Applied Broadband. 

Prior to joining Applied Broadband, Sonia was the director of environmental market development for the Colorado Environmental Business Alliance (CEBA), where she helped build markets for Colorado environmental businesses and promoted the Colorado environmental industry. Sonia created CEBA collateral material, established business partnerships, organized presentations, handled media relations, and managed incoming and outgoing trade missions to and from Mexico, China, Russia, and Vietnam.

Sonia has a background in international marketing communications, public relations, and finance. Before CEBA, she worked as an associate investment broker in Canada.

She holds a master's degree in global marketing communications and advertising from Emerson College, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Calgary, as well as a Canadian securities license.
